Navarre-based company Ubyko, specialized in robotic urban storage solutions, has closed a strategic investment round worth €450,000, with the participation of Sodena, the public development agency of the Government of Navarre, and the Guindulain family, owners of the Jofemar Group, a national leader in automation and vending. Jofemar will make available to Ubyko its full industrial capabilities and international commercial network. This deal strengthens Ubyko’s position to solidify its commercial strategy, enhance its technological development, and accelerate the deployment of its first solutions in real-world environments.
Ubyko designs and assembles intelligent storage systems that transform urban spaces into autonomous logistics microhubs, connected to 24/7 pickup points. Its technology increases last-mile delivery efficiency, reduces traffic and emissions in cities, and improves access to products and services. In doing so, Ubyko helps build more sustainable and efficient cities aligned with smart city goals.
“This agreement comes at a crucial time. It gives us solidity in our rollout strategy, improves our technological offering, and brings us closer to our first large-account customers,” say Diego Zúñiga and Hugo Fernández, co-founders of Ubyko. “Having these partners on board ensures we can face this stage with ambition and strength, and double our team in the coming months.”
The service robotics market — including urban logistics and distribution — is expected to grow at 20% annually in Europe, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). As Ubyko reminds us, “Last-mile delivery accounts for more than half of logistics costs in urban areas. Automating it is not just a technological option — it's an economic and environmental necessity, and a strategic lever to achieve the EU’s goals of climate neutrality and urban efficiency.”
"Robotics is moving beyond factories to integrate into our streets, hospitals, and urban warehouses. Europe is strongly promoting this transition toward cleaner, more efficient automated cities."
The new urban economy, based on robotics, smart logistics, and smart cities, will generate millions of skilled jobs in Europe over the coming decade. The last-mile sector alone will exceed €70 billion in value, consolidating itself as a growth and transformation engine for the sustainable cities of the future.
The backing of the Jofemar Group enhances the technical dimension of Ubyko's project. Its expertise in automation, manufacturing, and international commercialization of intelligent systems will provide essential experience and capabilities for exploring operational synergies, especially in areas adjacent to vending.
“Ubyko offers an innovative solution that complements our business. We share a common vision regarding applied technology and its potential to transform strategic sectors,” says Félix Guindulain, the Jofemar Group’s top representative.
The round is also supported by Sodena, further reinforcing its commitment to tech projects with strong growth potential, capacity for creating skilled jobs, and industrial impact in Navarre.
“We are pleased to participate in a co-investment operation with the Guindulain family, who have extensive sector experience. We share the satisfaction of supporting a business project that will undoubtedly help drive forward a technological initiative led by a capable founding team and enable the creation of high-skilled jobs,” added Iñaki Larraya, managing director of the public agency.
With this funding round, Ubyko enters a new phase focused on validating its technology with real clients, improving its technical robustness, and laying the groundwork for solid, scalable growth.
Ubyko is one of the first innovative SMEs certified by ENISA, and it has received support from CDTI through the NEOTEC program — Spain’s most important funding instrument for new innovative companies. This backing has been key to driving the development of artificial intelligence systems applied to computer vision and robotics in urban logistics environments. This approach reinforces Ubyko’s commitment to high-impact technological innovation focused on sustainability and urban efficiency.
With a pioneering approach, Ubyko brings to the city technologies traditionally reserved for industrial settings. It does so to build a more efficient and sustainable urban environment, offering end users a robotic logistics tool that combines smart storage and automated delivery.
