Behind this advanced robotics company with AI for industrial sectors are co-founders Carla Gómez and Jia Qiang Ye Zhu.
THEKER Robotics, the Barcelona-based start-up developing intelligent general-purpose robots for sectors such as waste management and logistics, has raised 2 million euros in a private funding round led by JME Ventures, Mission VC, and the US fund S16VC, together with Itnig Capital. Additionally, the company has secured 1 million euros in public funding, bringing the total backing to 3 million euros. This support not only confirms confidence in THEKER's disruptive technology but also positions the company as an emerging leader in the field of industrial robotics.
Innovation in robotics for critical industries
THEKER Robotics' technology combines computer vision and control with deep learning, offering adaptive general-purpose solutions to solve the major challenge of the 21st century—labor shortages—with a market size of 50 trillion dollars. Its system enables robots to detect, identify, and handle heterogeneous materials in dynamic and challenging environments, eliminating the need to program each movement and maximizing process efficiency.
"Our robots not only automate manual, dangerous, and physical tasks, but they also adapt to changing conditions and materials, providing sustainable and efficient solutions to the most critical sectors and those with the greatest labor demand," explains Carla Gómez, co-founder of THEKER Robotics.
In waste management, THEKER's robots automate the sorting and collection of materials in complex environments. In logistics, they improve package transportation and handling, reducing the reliance on manual labor. In manufacturing, their solutions ensure consistent cycle times and adapt to the changing needs of production.
Currently, THEKER Robotics is already working with clients in sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, and waste management, who are implementing the start-up’s advanced solutions to address critical operational and sustainability challenges.
"There is a huge demand for labor worldwide. Millions of critical jobs that people don't want to do because of their complexity and physical demands."
Momentum towards expansion
With this funding, THEKER Robotics plans to accelerate its growth by developing more general-purpose technology and expanding its team. Co-founders JiaQiang and Carla aim to position THEKER as a global leader in industrial robotics and actively contribute to the green and digital transition, having a significant positive impact on society.
"We are very grateful for the trust of our investors. This support will allow us to generalize our product to more industries and continue making a difference in key sectors for a more sustainable and productive future," the founders affirm.
