20 Basque SMEs and startups from around the world will develop innovation projects in areas such as smart industry, cybersecurity, and the energy transition thanks to their participation in the open innovation platform BIND, promoted by the Basque Government and the SPRI Group.

This initiative connects companies with technology startups from around the world to address real challenges through the development of pilot projects.

The results will be presented on July 2 at the BIND Demo Day, which will take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC). This event is a key meeting point for corporations, SMEs, public agencies, investors, and other key players in innovation and entrepreneurship, where the latest trends and technological solutions applied to industrial processes will be showcased by the startups and companies implementing them.

Technological solutions for real challenges

In the 2026 edition, leading SMEs from sectors such as industry, advanced manufacturing, services, food, and energy have participated, including Composites Martiartu, Draxton, H2SITE, Industrias Mail, Loramendi, Oilasko Berriak, Vicrila, and Xardexka.

These SMEs have defined seven key challenges in their sectors, focused on efficient organization, digital business and customer engagement, smart industry, cybersecurity, and sustainability and energy transition. To address them, they have prioritized technological solutions based on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and IoT.

The startups applying their technologies in pilot projects with Basque SMEs include:

  • Aiplux (Singapore): AI infrastructure for secure and efficient intellectual property management and regulatory compliance.
  • Data Value Management (Araba): AI-based interactive applications for data exploitation, predictive systems, chatbots, AI agents, task automation, and dashboards.
  • Greendeal (Peru): Converts complex plastic waste into sustainable construction materials through an innovative thermo-compression process.
  • Isso Technologies (Bizkaia): A platform that digitalizes field operations and internal processes using AI, blockchain, and extended reality.
  • Secrets Vault (Barcelona): Digital vault solutions and advanced employee authentication using image-based security.
  • Secur0 (Madrid): Offensive cybersecurity services through a network of over 600 ethical hackers.
  • Vors Control (Navarra): Advanced modeling and control solutions to optimize industrial systems and processes.
  • We are Clickers (Bizkaia): Data analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

How to develop open innovation projects with startups

The BIND platform has opened a new call for SMEs that want to join the programme and drive innovation alongside global startup talent.

For the past 10 years, the Basque Government’s open innovation platform has helped companies solve their challenges through customized technological solutions that make their processes more competitive, efficient, and sustainable.

Companies interested in joining the platform and contracting services from technology startups can register through the official programme channels. To address questions, an online session titled “How to innovate without risk: success stories of Basque SMEs with BIND” will be held on May 7, featuring success cases from Xardexka and Loramendi and presenting the new edition.
