The Basque Government has increased the budget of the Renove Smart Industry program to €13 million. This strategic initiative is aimed at promoting technological modernization, automation, and advanced digitalization in SMEs within the machine-tool sector, in which the Basque Country is a European benchmark.
This measure follows the Industry Defense Group meeting convened by Lehendakari Pradales, through which the Department of Industry seeks to diversify and transform Basque SMEs during a challenging period for the global economy, implementing concrete measures to support them.
In addition to the record budget for 2026, €87 million in additional funding will now be allocated to the transformation and diversification of SMEs. In total, the Basque Government will dedicate €277 million in support for SMEs, representing a 51.4% increase compared to the 2025 budget.
This year, the program has a final budget of €13 million and aims to support the purchase of new machinery and advanced equipment, both hardware and software, enabling companies to evolve toward smarter, more connected, and efficient production environments. The program facilitates the development of Industry 4.0 projects in the field of Advanced Manufacturing.
