Swanlaab Venture Factory has joined Navarra-based IED as an investor in Mula Autonomous Farming, a company specializing in the development of autonomous and precision agriculture solutions. The investment aims to strengthen Mula’s technological development, pursue new growth opportunities, and lay the groundwork for future expansion into markets where agricultural automation is expected to play an increasingly important role. In 2025, the company received the Alimenta Navarra Award in the Innovation category.

Swanlaab’s investment, made through its Swanlaab Innvierte AgriFood Tech Fund, marks the beginning of a new phase for Mula Autonomous Farming. The transaction will enable the company to strengthen its organizational structure, accelerate the development of its technological solutions, and enhance its execution capabilities with a view toward future international expansion. The fund joins Navarra-based IED as a shareholder and will contribute its expertise in scaling technology companies operating in the agrifood sector.

Mula’s first product is a multipurpose electric and autonomous platform designed to complement conventional agricultural machinery. The solution can be equipped with both commercial implements and proprietary modules to perform tasks such as transportation, seeding, spraying, mowing, UV treatments, and targeted herbicide application, among other functions.

The company notes that the platform has already undergone extensive validation in real-world operating environments, allowing it to move toward a commercial offering developed around farmers’ needs. The goal is to provide robust, versatile solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into the day-to-day operations of a wide range of agricultural businesses.

The adoption of technologies such as robotics, automation, and digitalization is a response to the major challenges currently facing the agricultural sector. The need to improve resource efficiency, increase productivity, address shortages of skilled labor, and advance more sustainable production models is driving a profound transformation of farming. In this context, autonomous agricultural robotics is emerging as a new technological infrastructure capable of helping manage farms in a more precise, traceable, and efficient manner.

According to Swanlaab, Mula possesses the attributes required to become a leading player within the European agri-tech ecosystem. “Mula perfectly represents the type of company we seek to support: businesses with differentiated technology, an international outlook, and the ability to transform strategic industries,” said Nora Alonso, Partner at Swanlaab. In her view, autonomous agriculture will become one of the key drivers of competitiveness in the sector over the coming years, and Mula has the team and technology needed to play a significant role in that transformation.

For his part, Mula CEO Carlos Martín described Swanlaab’s entry as a decisive milestone in the company’s journey. “This investment allows us to embark on a new phase with greater ambition and strength, while bringing on board a partner with valuable experience in both technology company development and the agri-tech sector,” he said. Martín also noted that the company received the 10th Alimenta Navarra Award for Innovation last year.

According to Swanlaab, the transaction represents a new milestone in Mula Autonomous Farming’s evolution and strengthens its ability to navigate a phase focused on commercial growth, organizational development, and international expansion.
