he Society for the Development of Cantabria (SODERCAN), attached to the Regional Ministry of Industry, Employment, Innovation and Trade, has granted aid to 77 entrepreneurs and newly created companies in the industrial sector and industry support services within the Autonomous Community, totaling €700,531 through the Emprecan Plus program.

This call covers incorporation costs, start-up expenses, fixed assets, and training, up to a maximum of €67,600 per company.

The regional Minister of Industry and President of SODERCAN, Eduardo Arasti, notes that these grants are part of the First Plan to Support Self-Employment of the Government of Cantabria, and their aim is to support the development of new entrepreneurial initiatives, promote the creation of new companies, and encourage the growth and consolidation of recently established SMEs.

The addition of new companies to the business fabric is “a fundamental pillar for the development and growth of our economy,” emphasizes the head of Industry.

Four lines of support

The Emprecan Plus program is divided into four lines of aid covering:

  • incorporation costs: registration, notary, and advisory services.
  • start-up costs: rent, trademark and patent registration, corporate image and website design, prototypes, certifications, marketing plans, etc.
  • fixed assets: machinery, equipment, furniture, computers, industrial property, software applications, e-commerce platforms, etc.
  • specialized training: formal education in business technical skills.

The incorporation costs line covers 100% of eligible expenses up to €500 per company; the start-up line offers 60% funding up to a maximum of €15,000; fixed assets receive 50% funding with a maximum increased to €50,000; and specialized training is funded at 60% up to €2,100 per company.

The objective is to facilitate the actions entrepreneurs must undertake to establish their company, incentivize the initial steps required to launch their business project and implement their investment plan, as well as to encourage and promote activities related to continuous training in areas that are difficult to access within traditional training frameworks.

In addition to these and other non-repayable grants, SODERCAN provides entrepreneurs with a comprehensive support service during the first years of their business journey, from identifying business opportunities and validating ideas through the preparation of a business plan, to company creation and subsequent consolidation.
