Spanish startup Sherpa.ai, which specializes in privacy-preserving artificial intelligence solutions, has raised $18 million (€15 million) in a funding round led by the addition of Forgepoint Capital as a new investor.
The round also received backing from several of the company's existing shareholders, including Mundi Ventures, Ekarpen, Allegra Holdings and the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), a public entity attached to Spain's Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, according to the company.
Sherpa.ai will use the proceeds to accelerate the development and deployment of its privacy-focused artificial intelligence platform, while supporting its international expansion across sectors including healthcare, financial services, industry, cybersecurity and the public sector.
The company said it has experienced strong growth in recent months, driven by new contracts with organizations including Indra, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centogene Genomics, Caja Laboral, Unicaja and Prosegur.
Sherpa.ai also plans to introduce new capabilities to its platform later this year as it seeks to strengthen its position as a comprehensive artificial intelligence solution for enterprises and public sector organizations.
