Ironchip, a technology company specialising in cybersecurity and location-based authentication, has closed a €1.5 million financing round aimed at boosting its growth and international expansion.
The deal has been led by Sabadell Venture Capital and has been backed by the main current shareholders: Inveready, Easo Ventures, Abanca and the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI). The round combines equity and debt financing, including lines such as ENISA and bank support.
Thanks to this capital injection, Ironchip will accelerate its entry into new strategic markets and continue the development of its patented technology, which uses electromagnetic signals to verify the digital identity of users based on their location. This technology already protects more than five million users in key sectors such as finance, industry and government.
‘This round marks a turning point for Ironchip. The backing of Sabadell Venture Capital and the continued commitment of our investors reinforce our mission: to lead the way towards more secure and transparent user authentication without passwords. We are ready to scale our technology globally and respond to the growing demand for smart cybersecurity,’ said Julen Martínez Higuero, CEO and co-founder of Ironchip.
From Sabadell Venture Capital, Raúl Rodríguez Sabater, Managing Director of BS Capital, underlines the fund's commitment to Ironchip's model: ‘We have decided to accompany Ironchip because of the combination of a founding team with high technical capacity, global ambition and a differential solution based on intelligent localisation. Their proposition eliminates the dependency on passwords and adds a key contextual security layer for organisations’.
Regarding the technological potential of the solution, he adds: ‘Traditional authentication is increasingly exposed. Ironchip's approach not only significantly improves security, but also reduces friction for the user, making it virtually invisible. We believe technologies like theirs will mark a before and after in the way enterprises protect their digital assets.’
Founded in 2017, Ironchip has developed a unique authentication system that uses signals from the environment - such as electromagnetic waves - to validate access based on context. With this new round, the company consolidates its position as a European leader in digital identity and advanced cybersecurity solutions.
