Next Tier Ventures has announced its investment in BrainGrid, a platform that transforms product ideas into structured plans for AI-native software development. The company has raised a $1M pre-seed round led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from Brainstorm Ventures.

AI is making software creation faster and more accessible than ever. However, while code generation continues to improve, product thinking has become the real bottleneck—and this is where BrainGrid comes in.

BrainGrid is building an AI Product Planner for the next generation of builders, helping turn ideas into structured product plans that AI coding tools and development agents can execute more efficiently. Over the past few months, many users have shipped real, revenue-generating products using BrainGrid, including:

  • A Pilates instructor who integrated Stripe Connect and onboarded her first studio.
  • A marketing professional with no CS background who launched Google Calendar sync and shared focus sessions.
  • A solo engineer in Brazil who planned a two-day feature in 30 minutes and delivered it in half the time.

“What was blocking builders wasn’t the code—it was planning. BrainGrid fills the gap between ‘I know what I want to build’ and ‘my AI coding tool builds it correctly,’” explain founders Nico Acosta and Tyler Wells, who bring deep experience across product, developer tools, and software platforms.

With this funding, BrainGrid doubles down on its mission to optimize product planning for AI-powered software, establishing itself as a key layer in the emerging AI software development stack
