The Corporation, through MONDRAGON Ventures, has invested in the foodtech startup Remolonas.
In line with its goal of promoting the creation of new businesses in strategic and future-oriented sectors, MONDRAGON, together with its cooperatives, has invested in around 30 external companies over the past decade. One of its latest transactions is the acquisition of an equity stake in Remolonas, a triple-impact foodtech company founded in 2023 in Valladolid by Carlos Pérez, Eduardo Aparicio, Pablo Enjuto, and Arturo Ballester.
The company has developed a new technological solution for the food industry supply chain (Supply Chain Tech), optimising the entire inventory lifecycle and unlocking value across all stages of vulnerability through a subscription-based model that provides recurring and predictable demand. Its technology enables both small and large producers, farmers, and national brands—such as Gullón, Helios, Gallo, and Lacasa—to quickly free up their balance sheets, protecting their pricing structure and positioning in the primary channel.
At the same time, Remolonas offers end consumers a personalised shopping basket with high-quality food at very competitive prices. In doing so, it improves industry efficiency, structurally reduces food waste, and enables a more affordable and sustainable food offering.
Selected for the Eroski Venture Program in 2024, MONDRAGON Ventures has positively assessed the opportunity represented by this business model in the foodtech market, as well as the development and execution capabilities demonstrated by the founding team in its first two years, the ambition of its business plan, and above all its impact on sustainability and employment. Going forward, the aim is to support Remolonas in its development until it becomes a leading player in its market in Europe.
Currently, Remolonas has more than 10,000 subscribing households and aims to become the leading online supermarket for sustainable, high-quality and affordable groceries in Spain within the year. The company has rescued more than 900 tonnes of food, avoided the emission of 2,720 tonnes of CO₂, and created inclusive employment for people with disabilities and those at risk of social exclusion. It has been awarded the 2025 “Alimentos de España” Innovation Award
