Miura Private Equity has invested in the restaurant chain Grupo Saona to accelerate its national expansion. Gonzalo Calvo, Saona’s leader since its inception in 2013, will continue to manage the company.
Grupo Saona is a fast - growing restaurant chain based on great quality Mediterranean cuisine, impeccable décor and a firm commitment to value for money. The group, which employs about 300 professionals, operates 10 restaurants in Valencia under the brands Saona (7), Tagomago (1), Turqueta (1) and Quick Saona (1). The company has recently landed in Madrid, with the opening of four additional restaurants, three of which are Saona, and one Tagomago.
Following the success of the company’s local establishment in Valencia and its emerging presence in Madrid, Miura will contribute to accelerate Grupo Saona’s national expansion. The envisioned growth strategy will strengthen the company’s position in the Spanish restaur ant market, considered to be highly fragmented, 64% of it being controlled by independent players, despite an increase in the presence of restaurant chains in recent years.
Grupo Saona is the second investment done by Miura Fund III , strengthening the pr ivate equity firm’s position in Valencia , where it has already performed five investments in the last three years.
