Mühldorfer Nutrition Holding, the German group specialising in animal nutrition and health, has acquired 100% of the Spanish holding company Greenfarm through a share deal. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The acquisition marks a further milestone in Mühldorfer’s pan-European expansion strategy and strengthens its presence in the Spanish market, which is experiencing stable growth.
Founded as a project in 2022 and headquartered in Castelldefels (Barcelona), Greenfarm was created with the ambition of building a new corporate group capable of delivering high value-added, integrated services to the animal care industry. Prior to the transaction, Greenfarm was backed by Mirai Investments, the industrial holding of José Antonio Jainaga (owner of Sidenor), and Turtle Capital, the private equity arm of Espai d’Inversions, the family office of Josep Font, former owner of 50% of Bon Preu, together with other investors.
Greenfarm’s first investment was Grupo Omega de Nutrición Animal, a company based in Arganda del Rey (Madrid) with more than 30 years of experience in the production and commercialisation of nutritional supplements for the animal sector, primarily livestock and poultry. Grupo Omega is a national benchmark in the manufacture of additives, premixes and specialised products—mainly for swine and cattle—and is recognised for its operational flexibility, customer-tailored formulations and the continuous launch of innovative products driven by R&D activities. The company operates a highly automated production facility with state-of-the-art precision systems and distributes its products across a significant part of the Iberian Peninsula—particularly the central and south-eastern regions—as well as in several EU countries, Africa and the Middle East.
In 2023, Greenfarm expanded its platform with the integration of PROVESA SL, a Murcia-based company founded in 1977 and specialised in the distribution and logistics of animal nutrition, health and hygiene products for livestock, as well as medicines and wellness products for companion animals supplied to veterinary clinics and hospitals. Provesa brings a strong commercial network built over decades, together with high value-added services including veterinary, technical and legal advisory, specialised training and cooperation with veterinary diagnostic laboratories.
Altogether, the Greenfarm group generates €22 million in revenues and €2 million in EBITDA. Looking ahead, Greenfarm aims to integrate additional national operators in the coming years, with the objective of combining, strengthening and scaling the individual capabilities of the companies joining the platform.
Through this transaction, Mühldorfer Nutrition Holding incorporates both a leading manufacturer in Grupo Omega and a best-in-class distributor in Provesa, fully aligned with its Buy, Build and Technologize growth strategy, and further enhances its offering in animal nutrition and health care for both production and companion animals.
Founded in 1994 by CEO Klaus Mittermeier and headquartered in Mühldorf am Inn (Upper Bavaria), the Mühldorfer Group is one of Europe’s key innovation drivers in animal nutrition and health. The group operates eleven development and production sites in Germany, Austria and Spain, manufacturing specialised feed, pet food, pharmaceutical and care products distributed worldwide. Mühldorfer is owned by its management team together with KKA Partner, which supports an ambitious inorganic growth strategy.
Following the acquisition, Patrick Feller, Co-Founder and Managing Director of KKA Partner, has been appointed Chairman of Greenfarm. Leveraging Provesa’s established commercial relationships, Mühldorfer will progressively introduce its proprietary product portfolio into the Spanish market, further strengthening its Southern European footprint.
“The acquisition of the Greenfarm group companies, with a strong track record in both domestic and international markets, represents a decisive step towards our ambition to become a fully integrated animal nutrition group and a leading innovator in animal health care,” Mühldorfer Nutrition Holding stated
