LKS Next Participates in the Launch of the European EDWIM Project to Advance Intelligent Wind Manufacturing Through AI, Digital Twins, and Quantum Technologies
The company will lead the project’s quantum layer and the validation of industrial solutions aimed at improving the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of wind component manufacturing
LKS Next is part of the European consortium behind the launch of EDWIM (Enhanced Digital-Wind Manufacturing), a project coordinated by IKERLAN that aims to transform manufacturing processes in the wind energy sector through the application of advanced technologies such as digital twins, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.
The project seeks to develop new digital tools capable of making the production of wind energy components smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable, thereby strengthening the sector’s competitiveness and accelerating Europe’s energy transition.
Within the consortium, LKS Next will play a key role by leading the development of EDWIM’s quantum layer and coordinating the validation of technological solutions in real industrial environments. The company will apply quantum computing, Quantum Machine Learning, and advanced optimization techniques to address complex industrial challenges related to quality, efficiency, and continuous process improvement.
Among the project’s main objectives is the development of advanced capabilities to detect potential defects at early stages of production, anticipate quality deviations, and move towards more predictive, adaptive, and resilient manufacturing models. By combining artificial intelligence, digital twins, and quantum algorithms, EDWIM will enhance decision-making and optimize industrial process performance in real time.
“Participating in EDWIM represents an opportunity to bring quantum technologies into real industrial settings and demonstrate their potential to create value in strategic sectors such as wind energy,” representatives from LKS Next stated.
The project brings together a leading European consortium of organizations specializing in research, innovation, and industrial manufacturing, including IKERLAN, Flender, EMA Indutec GmbH, Fraunhofer IWS, Sidenor Aceros Especiales, Heinrich Schümann, ISOVOLTA Group, RINA, Zabala Innovation Spain, and LKS Next.
Through its participation in EDWIM, LKS Next further strengthens its commitment to technological innovation and reinforces its position in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and industrial digitalization, contributing to the development of solutions that support a more competitive, sustainable, and future-ready industry.
