Kibo Ventures and Kfund have participated in the pre-seed round of MITO, the start-up co-founded by Spanish entrepreneur Iñaki Berenguer, which raised $4.5 million (€3.7 million) in a round led by Lightspeed, with additional participation from Sequoia and A16Z scouts.
MITO is developing a collaborative, AI-native platform for video creation, designed for filmmakers, designers, and creative teams. The platform allows users to ideate, produce, and share professional-quality films by combining AI-driven video, image, and audio models with advanced editing tools—all within a browser-based environment. Key features include storyboarding, camera angle control, visual effects, and multi-format delivery, supported by an AI co-pilot to execute specific tasks.
“Our mission is to unleash human creativity,” said Danny Saltaren, MITO co-founder and Chief Product Officer. “By automating the tedious parts of production, we give storytellers the freedom to focus on originality, depth, and vision. MITO is designed by filmmakers for filmmakers, blending human emotion with cutting-edge AI.”
The founding team, distributed between Madrid and San Francisco, also includes Arantxa Barcia, co-founder and experienced art director with a strong background in audiovisual productions and complex digital products. MITO is already collaborating with leading film and TV companies and aims to democratize storytelling and empower a new generation of creatives.
The start-up provides a multiplayer environment, enabling filmmakers, brands, and creative teams to collaborate in real time, streamlining production while maintaining full creative control. The investment from Kibo Ventures and K Fund strengthens MITO’s growth strategy and international expansion in the AI-powered video production market.
