Lightbase, the new platform designed to optimize engineering teams’ tasks through artificial intelligence, has closed a €2.2 million pre-seed funding round led by Picus Capital, with participation from Kfund, Helloworld, and a prominent group of business angels, including Jorge Poyatos and Albert Nieto (founders of Seedtag), Christian Beedgen (co-founder of Sumo Logic), and Rodrigue Schäfer (Delivery Hero).

The startup was founded with the mission of helping technical teams deliver their projects more quickly and efficiently. Its technology combines code analysis with AI and provides instant and accurate answers about how a company’s systems work, integrating directly into the team’s workflow. Unlike traditional documentation tools, which require manual effort and quickly become outdated, Lightbase learns directly from the system and continuously updates itself. This allows teams to reduce interruptions and reclaim up to 50% of the time typically spent in meetings and repetitive explanations.

Paul Goldbaum, founder of Lightbase and former CTO of Seedtag, explains that the main obstacle to productivity in engineering is not the ability to write code, but the time spent sharing knowledge and bringing team members up to speed. “For years I have seen even the most experienced engineers spend much of their day in meetings and onboarding new members, away from coding. Lightbase solves this problem by providing complete and accurate information about systems, instantly and at scale,” Goldbaum says.

The funding round will enable Lightbase to accelerate the development of its platform, expand its team, and open early access to more companies, helping engineering teams work more efficiently and productively.
