Iris, a leading venture builder in Spain specializing in the creation of technology companies in cybersecurity, cloud, and data, has announced an investment of three million euros in Velorum, a startup focused on applied artificial intelligence and enterprise knowledge management. The operation aims to accelerate Velorum’s growth and strengthen its position as one of the pioneering companies in the European AI ecosystem.
Founded by Marc Martínez and Marcos Lora, Velorum develops a platform that transforms an organization’s scattered data into an intelligent, connected knowledge system, capable of contextualizing technical and document-based information and turning it into strategic, exploitable assets through AI.
The company works with leading clients in the financial and insurance sectors and has confirmed the opening of a new office in Seattle, aiming to consolidate its presence in the West Coast tech ecosystem. Velorum also plans a new funding round in 2026 to continue meeting the high demand for its solutions.
Its main technology partners include Microsoft and Google (cloud computing), NVIDIA and Neo4j (graph technology and AI acceleration), and Databricks, which provides its unified data and AI platform. The company also collaborates with AWS and Snowflake, strengthening the technological ecosystem on which Velorum’s solutions are built.
Velorum expects to increase its revenue sevenfold by 2026 and maintain an annual growth rate of 30% until 2029. Its vision is clear: to become the go-to partner in Europe for organizational intelligence, data, and AI, offering proprietary technology capable of driving scalable business transformations.
A new AI-based organizational architecture
Velorum has developed a pioneering approach to Enterprise Knowledge Automation, based on the creation of a semantic graph that automatically models each company. Through this graph, the platform organizes and connects a company’s information assets (documents, databases, lines of code, AI models, etc.), extracting key metadata and structuring it according to the specific business logic of each organization.
This graph, combined with advanced data, language, and graph-processing algorithms, becomes a knowledge layer that AI agent systems can exploit to generate advanced solutions, precisely and efficiently contextualizing company processes. This allows intelligent agents to personalize their responses with greater automation and reliability, adapting development timelines, and making processes interpretable and highly contextualized.
In parallel, Velorum helps organizations migrate from traditional architectures based on Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, or LakeHouses to a new model called METALake: a unified, automatically governed environment designed to deploy advanced AI with higher reliability and ROI, while enabling all departments to leverage functional knowledge to optimize development processes.
Iris plans 20 million euros of investment over the next three years and expects to close the year with 250 employees
The investment in Velorum represents Iris’s third strategic operation in 2025, following the creation of three new companies—Ciberia, Skilia, and Blynd—with a combined investment of 12 million euros, and a minority stake in cybersecurity startup Seven Sector Technologies. Iris’s strategic growth plan foresees an investment of 20 million euros between 2025 and 2028 to continue expanding its portfolio of companies.
Iris Venture Builder continues its expansion with a unique model based on creating and scaling cutting-edge technology companies. The group, present in more than 40 countries, currently serves 1,500 clients and expects to end the year with 250 employees.
