Catalan company Ingedetec, headquartered in Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Barcelona), has opened a technical office in Tangier, Morocco, with the aim of strengthening its international presence. The company, which specializes in engineering services for the development of technologically advanced vehicles, has launched this expansion project with an initial investment of €230,000.
To support its international expansion into Morocco, Ingedetec received assistance from ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government’s agency for business competitiveness, through an €80,000 grant from its multilocation support program.
Ingedetec provides engineering services to manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive, railway and aerospace industries. The company specializes in the design and development of electrical systems, lighting solutions, interior and exterior vehicle components, batteries, as well as testing and validation services. Through this new investment, Ingedetec expects to increase its overall exports by 50% and grow its revenue by 5% during the first year of operation.
The new technical office has been established in the Tangier Med Free Zone, one of Morocco’s leading industrial hubs. According to Juan José Marcos, CEO of Ingedetec, “establishing ourselves in Tangier has been a strategic step to continue growing, take advantage of a well-established industrial environment, and strengthen our proximity to key companies in the sector.” He added that the new office will enhance the company’s presence in North Africa while serving as a platform for delivering services to Europe.
The company has already begun recruiting local talent. During the initial phase, which will run until the end of 2026, Ingedetec plans to hire between six and ten professionals. The team will combine local engineers with staff from its Catalan headquarters to facilitate knowledge transfer. In a second phase, scheduled for 2027, the company intends to secure projects directly in the Moroccan market and progressively expand its workforce.
According to Marcos, Ingedetec works closely with local universities, educational institutions and industry clusters to identify talent and build partnerships within Morocco’s industrial ecosystem.
Founded in 2005, Ingedetec currently employs 220 people worldwide, around 100 of whom are based at its headquarters in Catalonia. In addition to its new Moroccan office, the company operates two offices in Germany and two in Mexico to support its international activities. In 2025, Ingedetec reported global revenues of €10 million.
Supporting the Internationalization of Catalan Companies
Ingedetec’s expansion forms part of the Catalan Government’s new internationalization strategy for the 2026–2030 period, implemented through ACCIÓ. The initiative aims to help Catalan companies adapt to the evolving global trade landscape and includes objectives such as maintaining Catalonia’s leadership in exports within Spain, enabling 2,000 additional Catalan companies to begin exporting, and increasing the number of Catalan companies with foreign subsidiaries to 3,500.
The strategy also includes the public-private Catalunya Exporta program, designed to support Catalan companies in their international growth and export activities.
