The investment group iLanga Capital, led by Pelayo Cortina Koplowitz, has begun construction of OHAI Peniche, a luxury resort that adopts an innovative “horizontal hotel” concept and marks its second project in Portugal, following OHAI Nazaré.
The project involves an initial investment of €40 million, with an additional €10 million planned for 2029, positioning the Iberian Peninsula as a strategic platform to scale disruptive and sustainable business models internationally.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Filipe Sales, Mayor of Peniche; Hermínio Rodrigues, President of the Oeste Intermunicipal Community; Pedro Machado, Secretary of State for Tourism of Portugal; and Pelayo Cortina Koplowitz, President of iLanga Capital.
An Alternative Hospitality Concept
OHAI Peniche moves away from traditional hotel models and offers high-end accommodation in close contact with nature, including family bungalows and luxury villas with private pools. The resort is designed to cater to diverse audiences, combining comfort, wellness, and respect for the natural environment.
The development will be carried out in two phases:
According to Cortina, the project aims to create “a fully sustainable community integrated into its surroundings”, following an investment philosophy based on living in harmony with the landscape and local culture, prioritizing sustainability over aggressive land transformation.
iLanga Capital’s Strategy
With this development, iLanga Capital continues to lead high-growth niches in alternative hospitality, applying its active management model to transform assets into experiences that combine wellbeing, preventive health, and nature. The company reinforces its commitment to Portugal and the international expansion of the OHAI brand, consolidating its presence in the disruptive and sustainable hospitality sector
