Ideaded is making progress in implementing the industrial and technological plan launched after the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT) , an entity attached to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function , invested in the company , expanding its workforce with highly qualified technological engineers and developing the process of expanding and improving its facilities in Viladecans (Barcelona).
This was confirmed by the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, Óscar López , during a visit to the company's facilities, in which SETT has invested 9.5 million euros with the aim of placing Spain among the pioneering countries in the development of sustainable microchips .
Founded in Girona in 2015 and headquartered in Viladecans (Barcelona), Ideaded develops sustainable microchips based on alternative materials to silicon and flexible substrates , with applications in distribution, logistics, pharmaceuticals and computing, and with enormous strategic potential in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing or defense.
Ideaded has already completed the basic engineering for its cleanroom upgrade project , launched the bidding process with specialized companies, and is currently in the award phase. The implementation of these upgrades is scheduled to be completed in November 2026, coinciding with the arrival of new technological equipment .
The plan includes an investment of €12.3 million in machinery and infrastructure , including the acquisition of 13 new machines. Of these, 9 have already been purchased, with delivery dates expected between May and October, while the remaining machines are awaiting final configuration and their acquisition is expected to be completed soon.
These actions are part of Ideaded's roadmap to consolidate a pilot plant in Viladecans dedicated to the development of beyond-silicon semiconductors , based on alternative materials to silicon and geared towards a new generation of more efficient and sustainable microchips.
Starting in September, Ideaded also plans to begin hiring 25 process engineers specializing in scaling up to a foundry environment, with the aim of strengthening its industrial capabilities and moving towards higher production rates during 2027 .
At a technological level, the company has reached relevant milestones that allow it to continue advancing in the development of its final devices and in the validation of semiconductor technologies based on alternative materials to silicon .
During the visit, Minister Óscar López was able to learn firsthand about these advances and Ideaded's role in strengthening strategic technological capabilities for Spain and Europe.
