HM Hospitales and Huawei, together with TRC as a technology partner, have announced—within the framework of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona—the launch of a global technology showroom located at CUHMED, the HM University Center for Health Sciences of Universidad Camilo José Cela.

This space will feature a technology exhibition classroom, an anatomy laboratory with an interactive avatar, a clinical simulation classroom, a conference room, and several connected common areas.

The showroom will showcase both proprietary and third-party technological solutions with real-world applications in the healthcare field. In addition, through this collaboration, the partners will lay the foundations for validating new technological solutions in real clinical environments, as well as for the joint development of digital health initiatives.

The announcement was formalized through the signing of an agreement by Dr. Juan Abarca Cidón, President of HM Hospitales; Andrés Yin Hui, CEO of Huawei Iberia; and Alfredo Estirado, President of TRC.

This initiative reflects HM Hospitales’ commitment to promoting the training of future healthcare professionals and reinforces the alliance’s focus on bringing digitalization closer to the healthcare system, with particular emphasis on introducing intelligent solutions to improve the efficiency of patient diagnosis and treatment.

The digitalization of the healthcare system faces structural challenges such as interoperability between clinical systems, service continuity, data silos, and the integration of new technologies without compromising security or quality of care. In this context, medical data storage plays a crucial role, making the need for infrastructures that ensure high availability, low latency, and efficient management of large volumes of data increasingly evident.

Strategic cooperation in the service of healthcare innovation

The collaboration between HM Hospitales, Huawei, and TRC addresses these challenges and seeks to bring technological innovation closer to clinical practice by creating environments in which solutions can be tested, evaluated, and optimized during their implementation in real working settings. The goal is to accelerate the adoption of useful, safe clinical technology aligned with the real needs of professionals and patients.

Through this initiative, Huawei and TRC will provide the technology and services required to develop use cases, as well as participate in the design and execution of proof-of-concept projects of interest to the healthcare sector. HM Hospitales, for its part, will be responsible for validating these use cases so they can be scaled into real projects. This approach allows solutions to be assessed and validated before being rolled out to other centers, reducing risks and enabling more efficient and sustainable adoption.

This innovative project is based on the well-established healthcare track record of the HM Hospitales Group, its patient-centered model, and its active role within the Madrid Healthcare Hub. It is further supported by Huawei’s experience in the healthcare sector, where it serves more than 5,600 healthcare institutions in over 110 countries and regions, and by TRC’s expertise in the design, development, and implementation of technological solutions for healthcare environments and critical sectors, with a focus on service continuity, cybersecurity, and interoperability.

According to Dr. Juan Abarca, President of HM Hospitales, “this type of collaboration reflects our way of understanding healthcare: combining knowledge, technology, and talent to continue evolving toward a more efficient, innovative, and patient-centered care model. Strategic partnerships allow us to move forward more quickly and translate scientific and technological advances into real clinical practice, generating tangible value for professionals and, above all, for patients.”

In the words of Andrés Yin Hui, CEO of Huawei Iberia, “this agreement and the announcement of this showroom at MWC reflect our commitment to an open innovation model based on collaboration and on the company’s accumulated experience in the healthcare field. This project will not only foster innovation within the HM Hospitales ecosystem, but will also enable the group’s best practices to be shared with other national and international clients and will promote training in the academic sphere. All of this with the aim of continuing to improve quality of care and the adoption of innovative technologies.”

For his part, Alfredo Estirado, President of TRC, stated: “this showroom is an ideal environment for turning innovation into applicable, integrated, and measurable solutions, reducing uncertainty through proof-of-concept testing before clinical deployment.” He added: “our contribution focuses on supporting healthcare teams throughout the entire cycle, from use-case design to implementation, ensuring interoperability, service continuity, and security—three critical factors for digitalization to have a real impact on patients and professionals.”

This project is also part of a shared vision to move toward integrated technology platforms that eliminate silos, facilitate interoperability between medical systems, and enable agile and secure access to data by multidisciplinary teams, while also improving patient interaction through multiple channels. All of this is underpinned by a firm and cross-cutting commitment to compliance with current regulations on data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

The collaboration signed today reflects HM Hospitales’ commitment to establishing partnerships with leading companies in order to deliver the highest standard of healthcare through the incorporation of the latest technological innovations. It also promotes the development of smart hospital use cases together with the local ecosystem of suppliers and partners, reinforcing HM Hospitales’ role as a key player within the Madrid Healthcare Hub and as a driving force for healthcare innovation in the private sector
