European Icecream Investments, S.L. (Grupo Alacant), an investment subsidiary of Investindustrial VIII SCSp independently managed by Investindustrial and one of Spain’s leading ice cream manufacturers specialising in private label products and branded ice cream for major industry players, has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire Silver Dairy Ventures Limited (Silver Pail), one of Ireland’s leading ice cream producers. The combined group is expected to generate annual revenues of approximately €300 million.
Founded in 1978 and located in Fermoy (County Cork, Ireland), Silver Pail is one of the largest ice cream manufacturers in Ireland, specialising in the production of premium ice cream using locally sourced milk and cream for a top-tier international customer base including retailers, branded partners and HoReCa operators. Silver Pail operates a production facility in Fermoy with significant capacity for future growth and employs approximately 100 people.
This acquisition will allow Grupo Alacant to accelerate its internationalisation strategy in attractive markets such as the United Kingdom and Ireland, while also expanding its product portfolio, production capacity and logistics capabilities, thereby enhancing service to its customer base. The combined group will join forces in R&D to strengthen and speed up the development of new products, share best practices in quality and food safety, and generate commercial and operational synergies. Key members of Silver Pail’s management team will remain involved in the business to ensure continuity for employees, customers and suppliers.
Andrea C. Bonomi, Chairman of the Industrial Advisory Board of Investindustrial, commented:
“This acquisition reflects Investindustrial’s strategy of helping sector champions grow beyond their core markets. Grupo Alacant will continue along its path of investment, operational excellence and selective acquisitions, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, service and R&D for our customers.”
Per Harkjaer, Chairman of Grupo Alacant, commented:
“We are convinced that this acquisition will allow us to deliver significant added value to our customers by combining our production expertise with Silver Pail’s local presence and relationships. In addition, we will invest in Silver Pail’s industrial capacity and team to support the development of the industry in the region.”
Paul Condon, Commercial Director of Silver Pail, commented:
“We are very excited about our partnership with Grupo Alacant and believe that this collaboration will enable Silver Pail to become a leading player in the region over the coming years, supported by Grupo Alacant’s manufacturing expertise and broad product portfolio.”
Completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to take place during the first half of 2026.
