Spanish professional agriculture is undergoing a profound transformation driven by increased mechanisation, more professionalised management, and growing international demand for high-value crops such as avocados, citrus fruits, and olives. However, direct investment in these types of assets has historically been limited to large private fortunes and institutional investors due to high entry barriers and operational complexity.
Fundeen, a crowdfunding platform regulated by Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and specialised in sustainable investments, aims to help change this dynamic by incorporating agri-food assets into its investment platform. This new vertical will allow new investor profiles to access professional agricultural operations through a regulated, digital model rooted in the real economy.
Developed in this first phase together with Aurea Agro, a subsidiary of Aurea Capital, the initiative seeks to bring investment opportunities in the primary sector to an increasingly broad investor base interested in tangible, sustainable assets connected to local territories.
“For years, investment in high-quality agricultural assets has been out of reach for most investors. With this new investment line, we want to open the door to a new way of participating in the real economy, with the same transparency and rigour we already offer in renewable energy,” said Nacho Bautista, CEO of Fundeen.
The inclusion of the agri-food sector is part of Fundeen’s broader diversification strategy into new investment verticals linked to sustainability and real assets. After consolidating its position in renewable energy, the company is now expanding its activity to offer new opportunities to its investor community.
The platform currently has more than 20,000 registered users, nearly 3,000 active investors, over 38 funded projects, and more than €35 million in capital deployed. Headquartered in Ávila and certified as a B Corp, Fundeen operates across several sectors including solar PV, wind, agri-voltaics, electric mobility, CO₂ capture, battery storage, and now agri-food assets.
Investing in professional agriculture
The new agri-food investment line will focus on professional agricultural operations linked to high-value crops such as avocados, citrus fruits, olive groves, almond trees, and potentially pistachios. Selected projects must have a verifiable management track record, be already in production or transformation, and generate economic impact in their local areas.
The initiative aims to channel capital into a sector that requires funding to continue modernising, adopting new technologies, improving competitiveness, and strengthening local supply chains.
In this first phase, Fundeen will work alongside Aurea Agro, a firm specialised in the investment and management of agricultural assets. The company will contribute expertise in opportunity sourcing, agronomic analysis, operational management, and on-the-ground project monitoring.
Founded in 2013, the Aurea Capital team has managed more than 5,200 hectares, transformed over 2,500 hectares, and operated more than 6,000 hectares throughout its track record.
“Professional agriculture is undergoing a deep transformation driven by increased mechanisation, improved management, and new financing models. Our collaboration with Fundeen makes it possible to bring that evolution to a much broader investor base,” said José María Criado, Investment Director at Aurea Agro.
First agri-food investment transaction
The first deal within this new vertical will be a farm located in Huelva. The transaction will be structured as equity, allowing participants to become shareholders in the project and benefit both from the performance of the operation and the potential appreciation of the underlying asset. In future transactions, Fundeen may work with both equity and debt structures depending on each project’s needs.
Investment opportunities will be available through Fundeen’s digital platform: www.fundeen.com/agro
