Floatech, a startup specialising in the development of 100% silicon anodes for next-generation batteries, has closed a €1 million financing round. The operation has been led by Grow Venture Partners and has counted with the participation of current partners, including Big Sur Ventures, Suma Capital and CDTI Innovation through its SICC Innvierte, as well as the incorporation of Banco Sabadell, through BStartup, as a new investor.

The financing will allow Floatech to accelerate the commercialisation of its flagship product, Si⋮Coil®, a 100% silicon anode for applications in the electric mobility and consumer electronics sectors. In addition, they will be used to industrialise the production process for scale-up and to launch a new product for solid-state and lithium-metal batteries.

‘This round gives us the necessary impetus to bring our technology to market under industrial conditions. We are very grateful for the continued confidence of our partners and especially excited about the entry of Banco Sabadell in this strategic stage,’ said Fernando Celaya, CEO of Floatech.

FLOATECH has reached exceptional milestones in the development of silicon anodes for batteries, evolving from a TRL 6 to commercial stage in just 14 months. Its proprietary technology is the only one on the market that is compatible with all electrolyte types, maintaining structural integrity and charge cycles. In addition, it provides a tenfold increase in energy storage capacity over traditional carbon-based systems, with a cost reduction of half that of conventional graphite anodes. These advances place FLOATECH at the forefront of the next generation of high-performance batteries, key for segments such as Automotive, Consumer Electronics or Electro Aero mobility for civil and defence use.

Floatech develops and manufactures pure silicon anodes, a more efficient, cleaner and longer lasting alternative to conventional graphite anodes. Its technology allows batteries with a range of more than 1,000 km and recharges in less than 10 minutes, opening up new possibilities in sectors such as electric mobility, light aviation and advanced electronics.

Based in Getafe (Madrid) and recently installed in the TecnoGetafe Technology Park, Floatech is already operating a 1 MWh demonstration plant, commissioned in September 2024. The company has a solid intellectual property thanks to a patented manufacturing process, and has been recognised with the European Innovation Council (EIC) Seal of Excellence, as a high potential startup by Bpifrance, and by Caixa Emprende XXI for its innovative and disruptive character.

‘Floatech represents a very promising combination of industrial innovation, technical talent and market vision. At BStartup, we are committed to technologies that drive the energy transition and generate real impact,’ said Laurent Arens, director of BStartup10.

The demand for sustainable storage solutions is growing exponentially in Europe, driven by decarbonisation goals and the electrification of transport. Floatech is positioned as an emerging player in the European energy innovation ecosystem and a technological reference in the industrial development of advanced batteries.
