Agua NEA, a Spanish startup specializing in spring water packaged in 100% recyclable aluminum cans, has closed a new capital increase led by Eoniq.fund, which contributed €210,000. The investment will enable the company to accelerate its international expansion and strengthen its positioning as a benchmark in sustainable consumption.
Founded in 2019 by Alex Dakov and Fernando García Torrubia, Agua NEA was created with the goal of offering a real alternative to single-use plastic within the beverage industry, combining sustainability, design, and environmental commitment. Its value proposition goes beyond the product: for every can sold, the company actively contributes to the restoration of marine ecosystems through coral reef regeneration initiatives in different parts of the world.
The company has built a committed community around its environmental mission thanks to campaigns such as #1photo1coral, through which consumers can directly participate in coral planting by sharing content on social media featuring its products. To date, Agua NEA has contributed to the planting of more than 2,150 corals in marine ecosystems in the Pacific Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
Over the past year, Agua NEA has significantly strengthened its international expansion and its positioning as a leading brand in sustainable consumption, increasing its presence in Europe and the Americas and consolidating commercial agreements in multiple strategic markets. Its model, which combines product, sustainability, and community, continues to gain traction within the new generation of beverage brands with a positive environmental impact.
With this new investment, Agua NEA will strengthen its operational and logistics capacity to meet growing international demand, boost its commercial expansion efforts in the United States and Latin America, and continue developing impact-driven initiatives linked to marine ecosystem restoration and plastic waste reduction.
For Eoniq.fund, this transaction represents a clear commitment to Spanish startups that combine sustainability, global branding, and execution capability in international markets. The fund thus continues to strengthen its strategy of supporting technology and impact-driven companies with the potential to lead new categories of responsible consumption.
“Agua NEA shows that it is possible to build a global brand by combining sustainability, product, and community. We especially like their ability to turn a daily act such as drinking water into an action with a real positive impact on the planet. We believe their international growth has only just begun.”
— Tom Horsey, Managing Partner at Eoniq.fund
