Eatable Adventures, a leading global Agrifoodtech accelerator, has announced the five startups selected to take part in the first edition of the Raíces program. This pioneering initiative connects agri-food innovation ecosystems across Spain and Latin America, with the goal of bringing the most disruptive Spanish-speaking solutions to the international market.

With this program, Eatable Adventures expands its impact on accelerating innovative solutions for the agri-food industry in Europe and Latin America, reinforcing its ability to connect entrepreneurial talent, capital, and major corporations through a global approach.

For the development of the program, the accelerator has partnered with top-tier international organizations: ICEX, to boost global expansion; CNTA, as a strategic ally for the technological development and validation of the startups’ solutions; and major multinationals in the food sector such as Bimbo Ventures and Alianza Team, which will offer the startups opportunities to collaborate and test their solutions through real pilots and commercial agreements.

The selected startups may receive up to one million euros in funding and will participate in a high-performance 16-week acceleration program, including two in-person bootcamps in Madrid.

The program received more than 175 applications, with 74% coming from Latin America and 22.4% from Spain, highlighting the strong entrepreneurial potential across the Atlantic. The most common technologies featured in the applications included next-generation agriculture (32.9%), circular value chains (23.5%), and health and nutrition (16.5%).

The five selected startups: leveraging critical technologies to solve challenges in the agri-food sector

THE FOOD CHAINERS – The first intellectual property marketplace in agri-food
Based in Madrid, this startup has created the first Web3 platform designed to protect and commercialize intangible assets in the agri-food sector. The platform enables the monetization of know-how, technological developments, formulations, patents, and expert knowledge by converting them into investable assets through NFTs and blockchain technology. The Food Chainers promotes traceability, collaboration, and the valorization of innovation in the food industry.

BEE TECHNOLOGY – Biotechnology to extend shelf life in the animal protein industry
This Chilean startup develops natural ingredients capable of eliminating high-risk pathogenic bacteria such as Listeria, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus in fresh foods, extending shelf life by up to 76% without synthetic additives. Its precision fermentation technology reduces production losses, enhances food safety, and offers sustainable solutions for the global food industry, with projected applications in meats, processed foods, dairy, cosmetics, and crop protection.

KOJI – Fermentation and technology for a new world of flavors
This Colombian startup combines traditional fermentation with advanced bioprocesses and data technology to develop 100% natural, functional, and traceable ingredients from regenerative raw materials. Using its tech platform, it maps combinations between strains of the Aspergillus oryzae fungus (known as Koji) and biodiverse foods, enabling companies to create tastier, healthier, and more sustainable products.

NUNATAK – From Antarctica to farmlands: next-generation bio-inputs
Faced with degraded soils and declining fertilizer efficiency, this Argentine startup develops microbiological bio-inputs using extremophile microorganisms sourced from extreme environments such as Antarctica. These inputs are compatible with conventional products and enhance crop nutrition, yield, and climate resilience, tackling growing issues of soil degradation and fertilizer ineffectiveness.

SCIPAGE – A natural alternative to antibiotics in animal protein
This Colombian startup develops natural antibacterial solutions based on bacteriophages—viruses that eliminate harmful bacteria like Salmonella without affecting animals or humans. Designed for poultry and aquaculture, their products leave no residues and don’t generate antimicrobial resistance, offering a natural and effective alternative to traditional antibiotics.

“The Raíces startups prove that deep innovation and commitment to sustainability can emerge from any corner of the world,” said José Luis Cabañero, CEO and founder of Eatable Adventures.
“Initiatives like The Food Chainers, Bee Technology, Koji, Nunatak, and Sci Phage are rewriting the rules of the food system, delivering high-impact technological and biological solutions to critical challenges such as food safety, waste, antimicrobial resistance, and soil degradation. These companies are not just building the future of Agrifoodtech — they are leading a systemic transformation that connects science, purpose, and business disruption.”
