Dentons has advised SITA, the global leader in air transport technology, on its acquisition of Big Blue Analytics, a Barcelona-based company specialising in artificial intelligence-enabled solutions for airline operations.
The transaction strengthens SITA’s commitment to technological innovation in the aviation sector through the integration of Big Blue Analytics’ capabilities, particularly its OCC Assistant Manager (OCCam) platform. OCCam is an advanced disruption management and optimisation solution that enables airlines to simultaneously manage aircraft, crew, passenger and maintenance constraints during operational disruptions, enhancing decision-making processes and operational efficiency.
Through the acquisition, SITA will leverage its global presence and extensive aviation expertise to scale the deployment of Big Blue Analytics’ technology to airlines worldwide. The company also intends to accelerate the development of next-generation intelligent Operations Control Centers (OCCs), designed to optimise airline operations through advanced artificial intelligence capabilities.
Dentons advised SITA throughout the transaction with a multidisciplinary team led by corporate partner Nieves Briz. The team also included counsel Natalia Ontiveros, employment partner Luis San Emeterio, intellectual property and technology partner Miguel Barroso, and tax associate Diego Carrera.
With this acquisition, SITA further strengthens its position as a global technology leader in the air transport industry while advancing its strategy of integrating innovative AI-driven solutions to address the operational challenges facing airlines worldwide.
