DasLab, a pioneer in digital infrastructure solutions for medical diagnostics, today announces it has raised $7.1 million (€6.2 million) in an oversubscribed seed funding round. Speedinvest leads the round with participation from KAYA Ventures, All Iron Ventures, Plug and Play, and established digital health entrepreneurs from Europe, including the founders of Ada Health, caresyntax, Doctoralia, myoncare, and medneo.

70% of all medical decisions depend on laboratory results 1 yet the medical diagnostics ecosystem remains fragmented, inconsistent, and disconnected. Björn von Siemens, an early investor in DasLab, says: "For service providers in the healthcare sector, providing patients with universal access to medical tests continues to be very complex, costly and time-consuming. The pandemic has clearly shown the current lack of data transfer and security standards of the partly analogue processes and the strong fragmentation of patient data. For precise diagnostics and individualised therapies, relevant data must be available quickly, consistently, and securely - for the physician and the patient.

" DasLab’s vendor-neutral platform bridges the gap between medical diagnostic tests and the latest approaches to healthcare at-distance, enabling seamless integration of physical and virtual processes to achieve improved health outcomes. Healthcare providers connect to the platform quickly and securely via an API that uses globally recognised data standards (FHIR & LOINC). Once connected, telemedicine providers, digital therapeutics, symptom checkers, and other providers can easily incorporate diagnostic testing and results into their virtual or hybrid care models. Laboratories that integrate with the platform benefit from increased test volume and access to new revenue models. Since its inception in September 2020, the DasLab platform has delivered over 600,000 diagnostic results for more than 50 partners at 150 sites in Germany and Spain.

"Medical tests are a prerequisite for a targeted diagnosis and therapy," explains Michael Schuster, General Partner at Speedinvest. "This is exactly where DasLab's experienced team comes in: a variety of tests, easily to be integrated into existing platforms and workflows, available everywhere, and yet as simple for patients as an online payment. This is what healthcare will look like in the future. We are convinced that DasLab will play an important role here."

DasLab will use the fresh capital to further develop the platform, expand its partner network, and grow the team. The existing portfolio of tests will be expanded to include a comprehensive range of "at-home" tests that patients can perform themselves and which are then analysed in medical laboratories. Medically relevant standard test panels, such as the small and large blood count, will be integrated into the platform later in 2022. The necessary partner network for professional sample collection is currently being established. Negotiations with renowned partners and customers in the two core markets of Germany and Spain are already well advanced.

Dr. Daniel Fallscheer, Co-Founder and CEO of DasLab, says: "With DasLab, we simplify and democratise access to laboratory diagnostics. We see ourselves as an innovative co-creator of the digital health ecosystem. Our vision is to create a 'plug-and-play' solution for digital health providers, labs and other platform partners. We empower patients with our platform to take their health into their own hands and to be able to access and share their test results digitally at any time. In doing so, we are contributing to better healthcare and disease prevention."
