Cuatrecasas has advised Iberdrola Cogeneración, S.L., a company within the Iberdrola, S.A. group, on the sale of its portfolio of gas assets for slurry treatment in Spain to the energy services company Edison Next. The transaction includes five operational natural gas slurry treatment plants in Spain with a total capacity of 52 MW, as well as four biomethane projects under development with a combined capacity of 340 GWh per year.
The transaction aligns with Iberdrola’s strategy to promote asset rotation and partnerships that enable it to focus on businesses with greater growth opportunities, particularly in electricity networks and renewable generation.
Iberdrola is the largest electricity company in Europe and one of the two largest worldwide. It serves more than 100 million people globally and employs over 46,000 professionals.
The Cuatrecasas team responsible for the advisory work was composed of lawyers Javier Martí-Fluxá, Marcos García González, Sora Park and Ricardo Ramírez-Montesinos.
