COFIDES and CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their collaboration and promote sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean through the identification and co-financing of strategic projects.

The agreement was signed at COFIDES’ headquarters by Ángela Pérez, Chairwoman and CEO of COFIDES, and Sergio Díaz‑Granados, Executive President of CAF. It establishes a framework for cooperation to identify and support strategic projects, further consolidating the longstanding relationship between the two institutions, as CAF has held a minority stake in COFIDES since 2014.

Promoting responsible investment and public-private collaboration

Both institutions are committed to fostering public-private collaboration and jointly developing projects in key sectors such as sustainable infrastructure, environment and green transition, digitalization, agribusiness, health, education, and impact economy.

They will also collaborate in organizing forums, seminars, and meetings to highlight investment opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Spain, which serves as a gateway to the European and Mediterranean markets.

COFIDES Chairwoman Ángela Pérez stated, “This memorandum strengthens our already close collaboration with CAF to identify and support projects in this strategically important region of Latin America and the Caribbean.” She added, “Through this alliance, we also aim to support the European Global Gateway initiative by promoting co-investment with CAF in projects that foster inclusive development and consolidate the presence of Spanish companies.”

CAF Executive President Sergio Díaz-Granados said, “This agreement expands and consolidates our strategic alliance and enhances our capacity to mobilize resources and knowledge toward projects that accelerate sustainable development and integration in Latin America and the Caribbean. Working together will allow us to catalyze more investment in key sectors, aligned with our vision of becoming the green bank of the region.”
