The SICC Innvierte of CDTI Innovación invests in X1 WIND, together with CLUB RG 14, S.L., to develop a proven and innovative floating wind system, ready to change the paradigm of the offshore wind industry.
X1 WIND (Exponential Renewables S.L.) is a technology-based company that seeks smart solutions to tackle the challenges of the energy revolution, transform the way energy is produced, and drastically minimize its environmental impact.
X1 WIND’s technology is the result of more than 20 years of experience in the offshore renewable energy sector. It features a self-orienting floating design that reduces weight and minimizes installation and maintenance costs, making floating wind power competitive.
The company prides itself on attracting top-level talent from diverse backgrounds. Its team is composed of renowned professionals in wind energy, mechanical, electrical, structural, aeronautical, and naval engineering, as well as in strategy and business consulting.
CDTI Innovación, through Innvierte, has closed an investment transaction in the company alongside CLUB RG 14, S.L., with a total investment of €405,000. With this participation, CDTI Innovación contributes to tackling the climate challenge by supporting the offshore renewable energy sector.
Club RG 14 is a Spanish company headquartered in Barcelona, whose main corporate purpose is to act as a holding company, managing other businesses and participating in credit activities. It invests in various sectors, including real estate and energy.
Innvierte is an initiative aimed at promoting business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. This program is implemented through the closed-end collective investment company Innvierte Economía Sostenible SICC S.M.E., S.A., self-managed and supervised by the Spanish Securities Market Commission (CNMV), and wholly owned by CDTI Innovación.
To date, CDTI Innovación has committed €2.661 billion to 61 investment vehicles that have invested in more than 622 companies, and through its co-investment line it has directly committed €723 million to 190 companies.
Innvierte is part of the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2027, approved by the Council of Ministers in September 2020. This Strategy sets out the objectives, reforms, and measures to be adopted across the R&D&I landscape in order to boost its growth and impact, and is one of the pillars underpinning the Government’s R&D&I policy design for the coming years.
