Carlos Reina, founder of Baobab Ventures, has announced the launch of his new $15 million investment fund, focused on global technical teams in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Defense. The fund, a solo GP led by operators, has already made seven investments, including THEKER Robotics, Omnia, Murphy AI, and Altan, which are publicly disclosed, while three others remain private.

Reina, who began his journey as an angel investor eight years ago with an investment in the startup Revolut (currently valued at $75 billion), has backed a total of 74 startups, primarily in the deep tech space. His successes include ElevenLabs ($6.6 billion), Kiwibot, Vsim, Praktika.ai, and HappyRobot, among many others.

“The thesis for Baobab is simple:Building companies has dramatically changed over the past 3 years. What previously worked is no longer useful. Startups can close enterprise deals in <60 days and use PLG as a catalyst for PLS. To do so, they need to reach Momentum. Quickly. This means they need to nail GTM & distribution, deploy products weekly and spend extra time with customers. I've built GTM globally at ElevenLabs and can actively help teams build in the US, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latam or the Middle East” said Carlos Reina.

Baobab Ventures’ approach is straightforward: to help startups quickly reach the critical moment to scale their business, leveraging Reina’s experience as an operator and active investor, combining product management, growth strategy, and global market development.

“I am an operator-turned-investor who continues to operate at ElevenLabs. And I love it. I get the best of both worlds,” added Reina.

The founder also expresses his gratitude to his limited partners (LPs) for their support, including Cendana Capital, cyber•Fund, Isomer Capital, RSJ Investments, Emergence Ventures, dara5, Michael Kim, Maciek Gnutek, Jan Habermann, Ondrej Bartos, Jakub Krikava, Benedikt Franke, Chloe Dagnell, Donovan T., Dr. Fatima P. Godall, Freddie M., Graham Pingree, Iván Leal Durán, Jatinder Mehmi, Javi Palafox, Pablo Palafox, Luis Paarup, Reece Chowdhry, Konstantin Lomashuk, Karolina Mrozkova, Kelli Fontaine, Lucca Norton, Stella Norton, Mario Götze, and others.

Baobab Ventures aims to become an active partner for deep tech startup founders, providing capital, operational expertise, and access to international markets in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
