The Basque Government’s open innovation platform, BIND, has announced the 74 finalist startups for the 10th edition of its BIND Corporate program, in collaboration with leading companies from various industries. The participating startups, which will be revealed in January 2026, will be selected by the 70 partners of this edition to develop innovation projects that contribute to a smarter, more sustainable, and efficient industry.

The initiative, led by the Department of Industry, Energy Transition, and Sustainability and managed through SPRI, offers startups the opportunity to validate their solutions with real clients and immerse themselves in a leading entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem through a benchmark acceleration program. At this stage of the selection process, startups will meet in person with the interested companies to lay the foundations for potential projects to be developed in 2026.

74 startups from 15 countries

Regarding the origins of the finalist startups for the 10th edition, 45% are Spanish. Of these, 20 come from the Basque Country: 14 from Gipuzkoa and 6 from Bizkaia. Another 13 come from other regions such as Catalonia, Galicia, Navarra, Madrid, and Cantabria.

As for the international startups, 50% come from European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Finland, and Portugal. The remaining 5% are from the Americas, specifically the United States, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico.

Machine Learning and Cleantech: trends among the 70 partners

Among the 70 companies participating in the 10th edition of BIND Corporate are sector leaders such as Petronor/Repsol, Talgo, Danobatgroup, Enagás, Arteche, Ormazabal, CAF, Vidrala, Faes Farma, Gureak, and Eroski. The partners have defined 12 use cases across four areas: smart industry, clean and sustainable energy, health technology, and food technology.

The projects proposed by the finalist startups respond to these use cases, which reflect the challenges faced by the participating BIND companies. Of all the projects presented, 14% aim to address the digitalization and traceability of industrial processes. Another 12% focus on energy efficiency and intelligent consumption management in industries. A further 12% are dedicated to solutions for enterprise information management, security, and regulatory compliance.

Among the technological proposals, artificial intelligence is the most widely applied, appearing in 42% of the applications, specifically in machine learning and computer vision. Next are technologies for energy management and corporate sustainability, representing 25% of the total. IoT, cybersecurity, and robotics are also present at this stage, applied by 17% of the startups.

Finalists at the South Summit in Bilbao

The 74 finalist startups will have the opportunity to participate in the South Summit Industry & Energy, a two-day networking event for leaders and decision-makers in smart industry, energy, and mobility. In addition to meeting in person with the partner companies, they will be able to attend expert talks and connect with other startups and investors in the sector.
