BerriUp, Spain’s top private accelerator according to the annual Funcas report, has joined forces with consultancy firm BATEA to search for profiles interested in leading technology-based companies with high growth potential.
The executive profile required for this type of company is in high demand. Around 1,500 tech startups are founded in Spain every year, requiring approximately 500 professionals with these characteristics. Combined with the need for specialization in the tech environment, this makes such candidates difficult to identify. This situation calls for the combined efforts of BerriUp—specialized in the startup ecosystem—and BATEA, a company focused on talent search and selection.
It is also worth highlighting that this collaboration is part of the spin-off creation process that BerriUp develops for corporations, universities, and technology centers with projects that can become future high-potential companies. In this regard, the accelerator offers services such as identifying tech projects with growth potential, acceleration programs, structuring/restructuring of shareholdings, shareholder agreements, identification of funding and investment avenues, and the search for a CEO/promoter team.
To deliver this last service—the identification of the company’s CEO and promoter team—BATEA begins by thoroughly understanding the project: its purpose, maturity stage, business model, founding team, and culture. Based on this assessment, it defines together with the promoters the competency and strategic profile that best fits the company’s current moment, balancing entrepreneurial vision with management, leadership, and scaling capabilities. This analysis helps direct the search toward candidates who bring not only experience and strong networks but also alignment with the startup’s culture, vision, and pace.
The process combines direct search and competency-based evaluation, integrating objective tools and in-depth interviews to assess technical, cultural, and leadership fit. In addition, BATEA offers an initial coaching or mentoring service to support the CEO’s integration and ensure alignment between the individual and the project. This support helps align expectations, strengthen the relationship with the founding team, and lay the foundation for a solid collaboration that drives the company’s sustainable growth.
