Bankinter has announced its entry into Bit2Me’s capital by joining the €30 million funding round led by various strategic investors in the fintech sector. This transaction reinforces the bank’s commitment to technological innovation and its focus on collaborating with specialized startups that anticipate future trends in the financial sector.
Through this agreement, Bit2Me will be able to accelerate its expansion plans across the European Union, particularly following the acquisition of the European MiCA (Markets in Crypto‑Assets) regulatory license in 2025, which allows it to operate legally throughout Europe under a passporting framework. Bankinter’s support joins that of other key partners such as Telefónica, Inveready, Investcorp, Tether, BBVA, Unicaja, and Cecabank, thereby consolidating a strong financial and strategic foundation that drives the company’s growth in key markets.
Bit2Me is one of Spain’s leading digital asset and cryptocurrency platforms, founded in 2014 and registered with the Bank of Spain as a provider of exchange services between fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies. The company offers a comprehensive suite of solutions to buy, sell, manage, and securely custody digital assets for individual, professional, and corporate clients, operating in over 100 countries with a portfolio of more than 400 cryptocurrencies. Bit2Me was also a pioneer in obtaining the first MiCA license in Spain and is working to expand its offerings with products such as crypto payment cards, specialized training, and enterprise services.
For Bankinter, this transaction reflects its ongoing commitment to technological innovation and generating synergies with fintech companies, allowing it to anticipate rapid changes in the financial ecosystem and provide solutions tailored to clients’ future needs.
Bankinter’s support complements that of other investors who had already backed Bit2Me, including Telefónica, Inveready, Investcorp, Tether, BBVA, Unicaja, and Cecabank, highlighting the growing interest of traditional banking and major institutions in participating in the development of digital asset infrastructure and services.
“For us, having the opportunity to combine synergies with institutions with a track record like Bankinter’s is the best proof that well-executed work leads to great results,” said Bit2Me.
In the words of Pablo Casadio, CFO of Bit2Me: “Bit2Me is the ideal partner for financial institutions to capitalize on this environment, offering their clients access to the crypto ecosystem with maximum security and guarantees.”
