Alvarez & Marsal strengthens its Infrastructure and Capital Projects practice in Europe with new hires in Spain and Germany

Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has announced the appointment of Gabriel Valtueña-Ramos and Matthias Laue as new Managing Directors of its Infrastructure and Capital Projects division, thereby consolidating its strategic growth in Europe.

These hires strengthen A&M’s presence in two key and established markets: Iberia (Spain and Portugal) and the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), in response to growing demand for specialized advisory services from both public and private sector clients. These additions complement the global expansion of A&M INFRA over the past year, which has included new operations in India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Gabriel Valtueña-Ramos will lead A&M INFRA’s Iberia practice from Madrid. He has 25 years of experience in the construction and infrastructure sector. Recently, he served as interim CEO of the construction company CABBSA, where he defined a new growth and diversification strategy. Previously, he co-led McKINSEY’s Construction and Infrastructure practice in Iberia for seven years and spent nearly 14 years at CINTRA (Ferrovial), where he worked on the development, financing, construction, and operation of major international infrastructure projects, including eight years as CEO of various CINTRA subsidiaries in Spain, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Matthias Laue, with over 30 years of experience, joins the Hamburg office to lead the practice in the DACH region. Until now, he was part of AFRY Management Consulting, where he served as Global Head of Transaction Advisory and Head of Dispute Resolution. Specialized in transaction advisory and dispute resolution within the energy, heat, and gas sectors, he has participated in numerous landmark deals across Europe and has acted as an expert witness in high-profile litigation. He has previously held leadership roles at Fortum Oil & Gas and ExxonMobil, and has been recognized as an energy expert by Who’s Who Legal/Lexology.
