Santander Alternative Investments, S.G.I.I.C., S.A. has officially launched the private equity fund Santander Private Equity Select Portfolio, F.C.R., a new initiative targeting €200 million in investment commitments.
Based in Madrid and registered with the CNMV, the fund is exclusively aimed at professional investors and is global in scope, primarily focused on acquiring interests in both domestic and international private equity entities, with a particular emphasis on buyouts, growth, and venture capital strategies. Additionally, the fund allows for the possibility of making direct co-investments in target companies alongside the underlying funds.
The fund is managed by Santander Alternative Investments, S.G.I.I.C., S.A., which will be responsible for opportunity selection, risk management, and fund representation. An expert investment committee will analyze and propose investment and divestment opportunities.
The fund’s investment strategy explicitly excludes sectors such as weapons, thermal coal, gambling, cannabis, tobacco, and other activities deemed sensitive under Grupo Santander's policies. Furthermore, it incorporates sustainability (ESG) criteria into its investment policy, with sector exclusions aligned with the group’s environmental and social commitments.
The fund will have an initial duration of five years, extendable up to a maximum of seven years, and it may invest throughout its entire lifespan. It is structured as a vehicle with a single share class, with the option to establish additional classes if deemed necessary.
The fund's minimum initial committed capital is €1.65 million, with an initial drawdown of 10%, fully assumed by the sponsor. Management fees are set at 0.50% per year on total commitments, while operational and establishment costs are clearly defined and capped.
This new fund is part of Santander’s strategy to provide its clients with diversified, professional access to the global private equity market, supporting long-term value creation through efficient, transparent vehicles aligned with ethical and sustainable principles.
