Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) has participated in the refinancing of Project Monegros, a portfolio of operating onshore wind assets with a combined installed capacity of 487 MW located in Aragón, Spain, and owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Arjun Infrastructure Partners.
The portfolio comprises 12 operating wind farms that have been generating renewable electricity since 2020 and represents one of the largest operating wind portfolios in the region. The refinancing will optimise the project's capital structure while supporting its long-term operation through a financing solution specifically tailored to the portfolio's operating characteristics.
The transaction forms part of Santander CIB's strategy to support the development and long-term sustainability of renewable energy infrastructure by providing specialised financing solutions for clean energy projects.
With this transaction, the bank further reinforces its role as one of Europe's leading financiers of the energy transition, delivering financing structures that enhance both the financial efficiency and long-term sustainability of renewable energy assets.
