Registration Open for the MONDRAGON Ventures Foundry Awards

Startups, Corporate Venturing, Support for startups, Business Incubators - Accelerators

The FOUNDRY AWARDS will recognize the technology projects with the greatest potential to become new technology-based cooperatives (NewCoops). The two winning projects will gain access to a four-month expert acceleration program valued at €50,000 per category (€100,000 in total), and the selected projects will be announced on September 25.

MONDRAGON Ventures has opened the application period for the MONDRAGON Ventures Foundry Awards, an initiative aimed at identifying and accelerating technology-based projects capable of becoming future cooperative business ventures within the MONDRAGON ecosystem. FOUNDRY is the acceleration program designed to foster new industrial startups and spin-offs.

The call, promoted by MONDRAGON Ventures in collaboration with the Knowledge Division and the MONDRAGON Corporation, seeks to recognize technological assets with the potential to generate new industrial activity, promote purpose-driven innovation, and contribute to sustainable development.

A boost for the businesses of the future

The FOUNDRY AWARDS were created in alignment with the strategic objectives of the 2025–2028 Socio-Business Policy of the MONDRAGON Corporation, which supports the creation of new businesses in future-oriented sectors, the strengthening of inter-cooperation, and the generation of sustainable employment.

The call is aimed at Mondragon Unibertsitatea, technology centers, and corporate R&D units within the MONDRAGON Corporation, which may submit technology projects in two categories:

Industrial Impact

For technological assets with high potential impact on industry and the competitiveness of MONDRAGON cooperatives.

Disruptive Innovation

For technologies capable of creating new markets or transforming existing ones, with a strong impact on regional competitiveness.

Projects from any field or sector may be submitted, provided they clearly contribute to innovation, sustainable development, and a humanistic application of technology.

Up to 10 finalists and 2 winners

The selection process will choose up to 10 finalist projects across both categories. Subsequently, one project from each category will be recognized as the winner and will receive an acceleration program valued at €100,000 in total (€50,000 per project).

Over four months, the selected teams will receive guidance from MONDRAGON Ventures specialists to work on key areas such as business model definition, regulatory strategy, financing, technology transfer, and the establishment of a future NewCoop.

In addition, the remaining finalist projects will receive a specialized Venture Estimation assessment report to help them continue developing their initiatives and prepare for future calls.

Applications open until July 15

Interested entities can now submit their applications through the online form provided by MONDRAGON Ventures. Applications will remain open until July 15.

Projects will be evaluated according to criteria such as:

  1. Strategic fit with the Corporation
  2. Value proposition
  3. Market potential
  4. Team capabilities
  5. Economic and financial impact of the initiative

The FOUNDRY AWARDS ceremony will take place on September 25, when the winning projects of this edition will be announced.

Through this call, MONDRAGON Ventures reinforces its commitment to creating new cooperative industries, enhancing the value of technological assets, and supporting industrial startups and spin-offs capable of addressing the economic and social challenges of the future.
