Orkli, a member of MONDRAGON, has been shortlisted under the PERTE VEC (Connected and Electric Vehicle) program, funded through the European Next Generation EU funds. As part of this initiative, the company will receive an €8 million grant to support an ambitious €54 million investment plan over the next five years.
This plan will enable the launch and development of the BELCOR product range, aimed at ensuring safer working conditions by reducing the risks associated with battery use — a key area in the context of electrification and the energy transition.
The planned investments at the Ordizia plant are also expected to have a significant impact on the region’s socioeconomic environment, making it possible to create at least 100 new jobs by the end of the project’s implementation period.
The project’s development is being monitored by MONDRAGON Corporation, which supports the initiative through its internal promotion and support mechanisms, further reinforcing its commitment to industrial innovation, sustainability, and the creation of quality employment.
The BELCOR initiative is being jointly driven by ORKLI S. Coop. and the German company BELCHEM GmbH, consolidating an international partnership that will contribute to the development of innovative safety solutions for battery-based systems.
In this context, BELCOR has already received nominations from automotive manufacturers for the supply of battery cell safety components. These solutions are designed to prevent adverse thermal events and help extend the lifespan of battery cells, providing key added value in the development of safer and longer-lasting electric vehicles.
In addition to the interest shown by leading Europe-based automotive manufacturers, the BELCOR initiative is also attracting growing attention from Asian brands planning to establish themselves in the European market, strengthening its international positioning and growth potential.
This initiative forms part of broader European efforts to strengthen the electric vehicle value chain and move toward a more competitive, safe, and sustainable industrial model.
