King & Wood Mallesons ("KWM") has advised HISPASAT on the acquisition of AXESS Networks, a telecommunications company specialised in satellite services and with a strong presence in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The transaction, valued at more than 112.5 million euros and led by Corporate partner Roberto Pomares, positions HISPASAT as a leader in the market of satellite solutions for telecommunications operators, corporate networks, and public administrations in Latin America.

The deal is part of the investment plan included in HISPASAT’S 2021-25 Strategic Plan and will allow the Spanish company to optimise its offer in segments such as the extension of cellular satellite networks, connectivity networks for corporate clients, or the digitization of remote areas in countries with large technological gaps.

In addition to Roberto Pomares, the multidisciplinary team of KWM that has participated in this deal included the partner Ramón García Gallardo (Competition) and associates Rosa Chen (Corporate) and Sandra de Andrés (Employment).

AXESS Networks, recognised by the World Teleport Association as Independent Teleport of the Year 2021, has an infrastructure made up of teleports in Germany, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. It also has a broad customer base in industrial and corporate sectors related to telecommunications, oil, and energy, among others.

HISPASAT, operator and satellite service provider of Red Eléctrica Group, is the leading company in distributing multimedia content in Spanish and Portuguese, including broadcasting important digital television platforms.
