The company, dedicated to the production and distribution of audiovisuals with an international vocation, has received a loan from the ICF Culture line specifically for cultural projects.

Based in Barcelona, Castelao Pictures, a producer and distributor under the Filmax umbrella, is one of the largest audiovisual companies in Spain and has produced more than 100 feature films such as the “REC” saga (2007-2014), “100 metros” (2016), “No matarás” (2020), “Pan de limón con semillas de amapola” (2021) o “El mestre que va prometre el mar” (2023) and series such as “Polseres vermelles”, “Cites Barcelona” o “Todos mienten”.

Filmax is one of the most recognized Spanish audiovisual brands and covers all areas of the film process: from the development of the idea to the exhibition, through production, distribution and international sales.

The ICF has financed Castelo Pictures through a loan of 1.2M euros to develop 18 audiovisual projects, 15 of them its own and three co-productions. All of them will be shot in Catalonia for exhibition in cinemas and taken to international markets. Four of the films will be shot in Catalan.

The ICF Culture loans, which are guaranteed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) to improve access to financing on favourable terms, are intended to promote initiatives related to the production, distribution, marketing and dissemination, exhibition or protection of cultural goods or services, with a maximum amount of €2 million.
