The Fondo Capital Riesgo PYME Gijón Invierte II Fund continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for business growth in the city. Its Investment Committee has approved three new investments, reinforcing the fund's commitment to supporting innovative companies with high growth potential.

The fund, which has €5 million in committed capital and is wholly owned by the Gijón/Xixón City Council, reviewed three new investment opportunities during its latest meeting, together with two follow-on investment rounds for portfolio companies already backed by the fund, representing a total commitment of €600,000.

The newly approved investments operate in sectors considered strategic to the economic development of Gijón/Xixón, specifically green technology (green-tech), audiovisual media, and HR technology (HR-tech). These sectors are closely aligned with the city's strategy to foster a more innovative, sustainable and competitive economy.

Following these new approvals, Gijón Invierte II has completed 17 investment transactions, with €3.375 million in committed capital, representing 67.5% of the fund's total capacity. The investments are also expected to support the creation of 117 direct jobs across the companies backed by the fund.
