COFIDES and Fundación CRE100DO have partnered to strengthen the internationalization and growth of Spanish Mid-Sized Enterprises. Both organizations have signed a sponsorship agreement to promote the growth of Spanish companies that Fundación CRE100DO refers to as ETIs (Empresas de Tamaño Intermedio), with revenues between €50 million and €500 million. This alliance reinforces the public-private collaboration ecosystem surrounding Fundación CRE100DO and recognizes its role as a key entity for the development of the Spanish middle market.
The agreement was signed at COFIDES headquarters by Ángela Pérez, CEO and Chair of COFIDES, and Carlos Miras, President of Fundación CRE100DO.
For Ángela Pérez, CEO and Chair of COFIDES, “this alliance will allow us to share knowledge with a key organization in driving the Spanish business ecosystem and support companies with high growth potential.” She also noted that the agreement “will contribute to promoting internationalization, innovation, and the adoption of best practices among mid-sized enterprises, a segment essential for the competitiveness of our economy, which we have been supporting in their internationalization processes through FIEX for over thirty years.”
Carlos Miras, President of Fundación CRE100DO, stated, “COFIDES’ involvement strengthens CRE100DO’s commitment to driving the growth of Spanish Mid-Sized Enterprises. Having the backing of COFIDES, committed to developing the Spanish business ecosystem, is key to making a greater impact in this critical segment of our economy. This sponsorship is an excellent opportunity to advance together and share a common vision for the growth and competitiveness of our business community.”
FUNDACIÓN CRE100DO REPRESENTING ETIs (MID-SIZED ENTERPRISES)
In Spain, there is no official definition identifying Middle Market companies, unlike in other countries. For this reason, Fundación CRE100DO uses the term ETI (Empresas de Tamaño Intermedio) to refer to companies with revenues between €50 million and €500 million and/or 250–3,000 employees.
However, Europe has taken steps toward defining and recognizing this business segment of small mid-caps. The original European Commission proposal classifies companies with fewer than 750 employees and either annual revenues below €150 million or total assets under €129 million as part of this category. The Council later raised these thresholds to companies with fewer than 1,000 employees, annual revenues up to €200 million, or total assets up to €172 million.
