EJASO continues to advance its growth and territorial consolidation strategy with the opening of a new office in Vitoria-Gasteiz, marking its first physical presence in the Basque Country. The new headquarters, located at General Álava 20, strengthens the firm’s presence in northern Spain and enhances its ability to support companies and organisations in the region with specialised, close, and multidisciplinary legal advice.
The opening reflects EJASO’s strategic commitment to continued growth in regions with strong business, industrial, and cultural potential, such as the Basque Country and Navarre, which are key areas within the economic and business development of northern Spain.
The new office will allow the firm to expand its activity across the three historical territories of the Basque Country—Álava, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa—as well as Navarre, consolidating a structure capable of providing high-value legal advice across different practice areas and strategic sectors.
The office will be led by Silvia Ruiz Moruno, partner in the Media and Entertainment area and specialist in Intellectual Property, Copyright, Advertising and Marketing, as well as Privacy and Data Protection. She has extensive experience advising national and international companies linked to creative, audiovisual, and business sectors.
“This opening represents an important step in the firm’s growth and reflects our commitment to being close to the Basque business ecosystem, offering highly specialised advice tailored to each client’s needs,” says Manuel González-Haba, partner at EJASO.
For her part, Silvia Ruiz Moruno highlights that “the Basque Country and Navarre are going through a particularly relevant moment in sectors such as audiovisual, cultural, industrial, and technological industries, so having a local presence will allow us to provide closer, more strategic support aligned with the reality of the territory.”
An inauguration event with institutional and business representation
The official opening of the office took place on 7th May, in an event held in Vitoria-Gasteiz that brought together around 60 attendees, including institutional representatives, legal and business professionals, as well as figures from the cultural and audiovisual sectors.
The event, hosted by Iñaki Casas, consultant partner at KÒMO, featured an opening speech by Manuel González-Haba, partner at EJASO, who highlighted the firm’s national and international growth and consolidation strategy, stressing the importance of having a physical presence in a strategic region such as the Basque Country, particularly alongside Silvia Ruiz Moruno, who has deep knowledge of the region’s business, institutional, and audiovisual environment.
Following his remarks, a roundtable discussion was held titled “The ‘real’ opportunity of the emerging audiovisual industry in Álava and Euskadi: under the umbrella of law and driven by taxation”, featuring Silvia Ruiz Moruno; Joseba Fiestras, director of FesTVal; Belinda Washington, presenter, actress, screenwriter, director and producer; and Ander Larrinaga, Director of Economic Development and Innovation at the Provincial Council of Álava.
During the discussion, participants analysed the current growth of the audiovisual industry in the Basque Country and the strategic role played by factors such as taxation, legal certainty, and professional specialisation in attracting projects, investment, and talent to the region.
The event also served as a meeting point to strengthen EJASO’s relationship with the Basque business and institutional ecosystem and to share the firm’s future vision for the region.
