The Galician Cluster of the Sports and Wellness Industry, with the support of the Xunta de Galicia through IGAPE, has officially launched Business Factory Sport (BF Sport), the Galician accelerator for the sports industry.
The purpose of BF Sport is to help entrepreneurs, startups, and the sports industry in general to transform through open innovation. The initiative, which will offer vertical programs for incubation, acceleration, and consolidation, has opened the registration period for the first edition of its acceleration program. Applications are open until August 29, with the Startup Day scheduled for mid-September. The acceleration program will begin shortly after and run for 12 weeks during the last quarter of the year.
The acceleration track is designed for startups that already have a minimum viable product (MVP) and need to validate it in the market. If possible, they will develop a proof of concept (POC) in a real market environment with one of the partner organizations, responding to one of the challenges defined by the program. Only six startups will be selected to participate in this first edition, which will follow a hybrid format. These early-stage companies may receive up to €25,000 in non-refundable funding from IGAPE, as well as the opportunity to receive up to €50,000 in equity investment from Xesgalicia.
The challenges, defined by the BF Sport Council of Partners, reflect the main innovation and entrepreneurship needs of the sports and wellness industry in Galicia. In addition, the partner entities —more than twenty, including Máis Que Auga, Jim Sports, The Well Being Lab, AQA, and La Fuga Cycling— have proposed specific challenges to address their most pressing innovation needs.
