Be Casa, the innovative flexible living community, opens its first location in the municipality of Barakaldo. This project, currently under construction and scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2025, will offer 639 fully furnished units, including studios and one-bedroom apartments.
Be Casa was created in response to the growing demand for alternative housing solutions in the real estate market. This flexible rental model, known as flex living, puts the new needs of today’s population at the heart of its offering, providing short- and long-term options with shared spaces and comprehensive services. The concept was introduced by Greystar, a global leader in investment, development, and management of rental housing assets.
The new Be Casa community is located at Ismael Gorostiza 2, in Barakaldo. It has direct access to the metro, the A8 motorway, and is close to the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC), the city’s main fairground venue. Be Casa will offer fully equipped accommodation and common areas such as co-working spaces, an outdoor cinema, a social club, a café, and much more. The all-inclusive policy will cover utilities (electricity, water, gas, climate control, and Wi-Fi), cleaning, maintenance, as well as 24-hour security and reception. Additional services include extra parking, extra cleaning, vending machines, among others.
Designed to combine comfort, functionality, and aesthetics, the private units and communal areas — covering 23,485 square meters — include gardens and recreational spaces. The project will provide 70 parking spaces, 90 bicycle spaces, and complementary services.
Committed to sustainability, Be Casa has been designed following the highest standards of efficiency and environmental responsibility, achieving an “Outstanding” BREEAM certification, which assesses buildings’ sustainability in terms of energy efficiency and environmental management. The project also uses sustainable materials, aerothermal systems for efficient energy use, bicycle parking, and electric vehicle chargers, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and green mobility.
Rafael Fernandez-Villaverde, Managing Director for Greystar Spain, states: “At Greystar, we continue to firmly believe in the potential of the market, especially in the flex living sector. We are aware of the growing demand for alternative housing solutions that adapt to the needs of today’s consumers. With Be Casa’s arrival in Bizkaia, we aim to be part of the solution to the challenges the housing sector is facing and to reaffirm our commitment to the real estate market as we continue to grow.”
The community in Barakaldo is an innovative solution for those who need temporary accommodation (from just one night to several weeks or months) due to work or personal circumstances, as well as for those looking to explore alternatives to home ownership. This model seeks to adapt to the current needs of the market, offering flexibility, comfort, and comprehensive services that redefine the concept of living.
Be Casa has established itself as a key player in the real estate market, as evidenced by the success of its four existing communities in Madrid (Rivas-Vaciamadrid, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Valdebebas, and Alcobendas), some of which have been operating since 2022. With a total of seven communities between Madrid, Bizkaia, and Catalonia, the brand now has over 4,800 apartments in its portfolio (including projects under development).
Be Casa is a flexible living model that offers society high-quality housing solutions. It currently has four Be Casa communities in the Madrid region and will soon expand to Barakaldo, Sant Cugat, and Boadilla del Monte, bringing its total offering to more than 4,800 apartments. Be Casa is committed to improving people’s quality of life by creating spaces and environments that make it easy to balance privacy with connection to the world, professional development with personal wellbeing, and the individual with the community. Be Casa is the flexible rental platform owned by Greystar.
