Avançsa has granted a €500,000 equity loan to Nearby Computing, a company that has developed an orchestration and automation software platform to automate and coordinate network infrastructure, connectivity and applications used by enterprises.
This equity loan complements the €6.5 million investment round that the company has closed with Walter Ventures, JME Ventures, Wayra (Telefónica) and Akamai Technologies.
The company, which develops projects in the field of edge computing, was founded in 2018 by experts from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The technology brings business operations and data sources, such as IoT devices, closer to their origins, offering benefits such as faster knowledge retrieval, better response times, lower latency and higher effective bandwidth. This enables more efficient management of organisations' connected resources and facilitates the digital transformation of enterprises.
The company has developed NearbyOne, a platform that stands out for its ability to communicate between the different layers of the edge, ensuring efficiency in complex and changing situations. Edge computing is already used in a variety of applications such as artificial intelligence, video analytics, augmented reality, IoT data processing, audio and video conferencing, content and precision location, among others.
Nearby Computing already works with leading clients in telecommunications, retail and the electricity sector, and aims to continue growing internationally, while continuing to develop improvements and new features in its platform adapted to the needs of the market.
