Alantra has acted as exclusive M&A sell-side advisor to Institut für Berufliche Bildung AG (“IBB” or “the Company”), a top-3 German provider of publicly funded advanced vocational training and occupational retraining, on its sale to NORD Holding.

IBB offers a comprehensive portfolio of more than 850 courses for up- and re-skilling across 6 high-demand professional categories, i.e. digital, commercial, and social disciplines. With over 40 years of experience, the Company delivers high-quality training online, hybrid and in-person, operating more than 1,000 locations nationwide on the back of its unique VIONA partner network and digital learning platform with over 700 employees.

With more than 50 years of experience and assets under management of €4.0 billion, NORD Holding is a leading German private equity and asset management firm. The firm’s focus is directed at its two core business areas: direct investments and fund investments. The direct investment business focuses on investing in mid-market companies in the German-speaking region. The transaction supports NORD Holding’s strategy to invest in education and business services and to further develop IBB’s market position.

As the exclusive sell-side advisor, Alantra supported IBB and its shareholders throughout the entire transaction process, leveraging its longstanding and deep sector expertise in education and human capital to position the business to both strategic and financial parties, ultimately securing a successful outcome.

Ralf Abele, CFA, Managing Director at Alantra, commented: “IBB represents one of the most attractive platforms in the German education market, combining strong market positioning and brand equity with a unique, scalable, and AI-enabled delivery model. We as a team and the entire Alantra organization are delighted to have been part of this journey identifying the right partner for the next phase of growth.”

This transaction further demonstrates Alantra’s expertise in the education and tech-enabled services space. Recent European technology sector credentials include advising the shareholders of Multisoft on its sale to SEB Private Equity, CymbiQ Group AG on its sale to Adnovum AG, and Threatscape on its sale to Horizon Capital.
