Alantra has acted as financial advisor to Aminolabs Nutrition, a leading European contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) focused on VMS and nutrition, on its acquisition of Zoka Pharma, a Spainish CDMO with a complementary product portfolio and manufacturing footprint.

Aminolabs Nutrition is a leading European VMS and nutrition CDMO with advanced capabilities across the high-volume food supplement dosage formats including powders, tablets and capsules. Majority owned by founder, Roger Anné, and backed by investment partner LRM, the company is actively pursuing a targeted buy-and-build strategy across Europe following its management buyout from Waterland Private Equity in 2023.

Based in Valencia, Zoka Pharma operates two state-of-the-art production facilities with advanced product development capabilities, in particular in gels. With the backing of Aminolabs, the company is targeting a doubling of its Spanish turnover within two years.

The acquisition strengthens Aminolabs’ capabilities across a broader range of product categories, including gels, liquids, probiotics, infant nutrition, and pet supplements, while also enhancing production capacity and efficiency in tablet and capsules dosage formats. With a strategic base in Valencia, the combined group is now better positioned to serve customers across Southern Europe and accelerate expansion into high-growth adjacent markets, including North Africa and the Middle East.

Charles Lanceley, Managing Director at Alantra, commented: “This transaction highlights the continued value of specialist development and manufacturing platforms in the VMS and nutrition sector. We’re delighted to support Aminolabs in executing its buy-and-build strategy, reinforcing our very strong advisory track record in the VMS CDMO space.”

This transaction adds to Alantra’s incredible momentum in the VMS CDMO sector, having advised on the sale of Biokosmes to BioDue S.p.A., the sale of Perrigo’s internal CDMO (Richard Bittner) to DCC Healthcare, the sale of Windstar Medical to Merz Lifecare, the sale of UST to Somafina, the acquisition of alphacaps for Amira, the sale of GS Capsule to Advent International, and the sale of Bee Health to INW.
