Axon will manage the 40 million euros that the EIB has proposed to invest and support R&D&I activities in the region, with the aim of consolidating the Andalusian business fabric. This partnership represents the first time that the two entities have worked together, with a vision of continued cooperation in the future.
The funds are sourced from the ‘Andalucía FEDER 2021-2027 Programme’, which was awarded through public tender. Axon, due to its extensive experience and long track record, is one of the best positioned managers to meet the challenges offered by Andalusia’s technological and innovative sector and to consolidate its position in the market.
Axon will launch a hybrid equity and debt investment vehicle, called Axon Desarrollo Andalucía, to manage these operations, a new strategy in which Axon already has experience in individual operations and which joins the existing businesses within the house: growth equity, crossover, sustainability and fund of funds. Some strategies have regional approaches, as in the case mentioned in this note, while others have global approaches, such as the fund of funds or sustainability activity.
